Strategy Analytics: Apple leads the global smartphone market in Q4 2021, with Samsung holding the first place and Xiaomi ranking third
Today, Strategy Analytics reported that in Q4 2021, global smartphone shipments fell 3% year-on-year to 365 million units. In 2021, 135.8 million smartphones were shipped, up 5% year-on-year. 
 
Among them, Apple ranked first in the global smartphone market with 22% market share in Q4 in 2021. Samsung maintained the first place in the whole year of 2021. 
 
Supply constraints and component shortages continue to affect the smartphone market, which is not expected to ease until the second half of the year, Strategy Analytics said.
 
Apple shipped 80 million iPhones in Q4 2021, according to the report. For the whole year of 2021, Apple ranked second with 17% market share, behind Samsung and ahead of Xiaomi.
 
Samsung Q4 2021 ranked second with 69 million smartphone shipments, up 12% year-on-year, with a market share of 19%. In the whole year of 2021, Samsung maintained the first place with 20% market share.
 
In addition, Xiaomi Q4 2021 ranked third with 45 million smartphone shipments. In the whole year of 2021, millet also ranked third with 14% market share, up 3 percentage points from 11% market share in 2020.
